Huawei has introduced its renewal of the Nova series in China, we are talking about the new Huawei Nova 8 and Nova 8 Pro, both mid-range terminals with Kirin 985 processors, 64MP quad cameras, 5G connectivity and 66-watt fast charging. If you are interested in knowing them, you have come to the right place.

Huawei Nova 8

The Nova 8 series is noted for the elliptical photographic module that governs the rear cover, which is, at least, unusual. This surface is free of aesthetic elements and also fingerprint reader, since it is on the screen.

And speaking of the display, the Huawei Nova 8 brings to the table a 6.57-inch curved AMOLED panel with Full HD + resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and a 32MP selfie camera embedded above and in the center. Also, the cutout of the speaker grill is part of the top frame.

Beneath its elegant exterior lies a powerful Kirin 985 chip, which provides 5G connectivity to the terminal and is backed by 8GB of RAM. The internal storage options for both terminals range from 128GB to 256GB.

Powering this particular device, we will find a 3,800mAh battery whose figure falls a bit short by current standards, but fortunately the Nova 8 makes up for it with 66W fast charging (via cable).

At the operating system level we will find EMUI 11 based on Android 11, but obviously without Google services or applications, only HMS.

On the other hand, the photographic section is governed by a 64MP main camera, which is complemented by an 8MP ultra-wide lens and two 2MP sensors for macro shots and depth readings. In the case of the Huawei Nova 8 we will only find a selfie camera, which outlines a respectable 32MP resolution.

Huawei Nova 8 Pro

The Huawei Nova 8 Pro ups the ante, but without making itself unrecognizable. First of all, it comes with a larger 6.72-inch OLED panel with FHD + resolution and increases the refresh rate to 120Hz. Its panel is also curved and features 10-bit color output that should translate into deeper and more saturated colors.

Another crucial difference between these terminals comes in the form of the selfie camera, which consists of two 16MP and 32MP sensors attached over a pill-shaped cutout in the upper left corner. On the back, the quad camera setup carries over from the Nova 8 as is.

Finally, it makes use of a slightly larger battery, we are talking about 4,000mAh, but the fast charging of 66W is preserved.

Availability and price

The Nova 8 is available in silver, purple, green and black colors. It costs 3,299 yuan.

in its 8GB + 128GB version, while the 8GB + 256GB variant costs 3,699 yuan.

For its part, the Nova 8 Pro comes in the same colors as the standard model, but the price is 3,999 yuan for the 8GB + 128GB version, while the 256GB version costs 4,399 yuan.

The start of sales is scheduled for December 30 in China, but naturally, there is still no information about a launch in other regions, so we will have to wait for now.
