If you follow us on a daily basis, surely you already know that in this last half of the year I have tried quite a few true wireless headphones. The Huawei Free buds Pro are still my favorites today, but I am also combining them with the LG Tone Free FN6. Others, like the Sony WF-XB700 or the Fresh ‘n Rebel are also good options. But today I come to tell you my opinions of the Motorola Verve Buds 120 in this review in Spanish. Some cheap Motorola headphones that you have surely seen in stores like Amazon and that have surprised me a lot and that have good things and not so good things.
Unboxing and design of the Motorola Verve Buds 120
A very simple and modest packaging, at the height of the budget of these headphones, serves as a gateway to meet these Motorola Verve Buds 120. Inside we find a small cardboard with the QR code to download the Hubble app that you will need if you want it get the most out of these good headphones, a USB C to USB cable, a set of six replacement rubber bands, manuals and the headphones themselves.
These Motorola Verve Buds 120 are true wireless or TWS type, that is, with total absence of cables, both with the sound-emitting device and with each other. This format of headphones has become my favorite because of how extremely comfortable they are.
The charging case in hand leaves us some first mixed impressions. You can tell that they have used modest materials (plastics), but the touch is quite pleasant. On the front of the box the word Motorola appears in gray and on the back, we see a detail that we do not like and it is the technical information such as the FCC ID, the certificate stickers, etc., something that spoils the design a bit. At the bottom there is the USB C port to charge the box and four LED lights that indicate the battery status and at the top we have the lid, which opens upwards. The charging case is very small and comfortable to transport, something that, despite not being the prettiest on the market, we really liked.
We open the box and find the headphones, also much smaller than I expected. They are in-ear type, with a button format that I had not tried until now and that aroused curiosity and mistrust in equal parts. I have to say that, contrary to what they may seem, they are very comfortable, they do not bother the ear, they look quite good aesthetically and they do not fall off. I liked this wow factor and it is without a doubt the best asset of these headphones.
A large Motorola M appears on the front of each headset and they also have a status LED for you to pair them. They do not have a physical button, just by taking them out of the box they are already in pairing mode.
Sound, do you hear them well?
There are lights and shadows in the sound section of the Motorola Verve Buds 120. For multimedia playback they are heard very well and will allow you to play your music without reaching a top quality, but more than satisfactory for the price they have. In calls, you will also hear well, but the interlocutor, at the first time and without saying anything, realized that he had changed headphones since the clarity of the voice dropped compared to other models that I use regularly. We must also bear in mind that the price of these other alternatives is two and three times higher than the Motorola, so we should not sacrifice them for this.
They do not have noise cancellation, something that can also be a handicap for some of you, and that you should value. There is one thing that bothers me a lot and that is that every time you put them on, they play the little music of “Hello, Moto”, too strident for my taste. With a beep, so you know they are connected, it would have been enough.
Generally speaking, they are very comfortable headphones that listen well for music and allow you to make short calls with freedom of movement.
What else can we expect from them?
The battery promises us up to 15 hours of autonomy on a single charge, which is very good. It has Bluetooth 5.0, for a stable pairing, and also even IPX6 resistance for sweat, rain, dust … It also highlights that they allow gesture control and that they are compatible with voice assistants such as Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant.
Cleaning has been a bit of a drag for me, since the rubbers come off easily when you give it a little to clean them and although it will not take you more than a few seconds to put them back on, it is something that has not convinced me.
