The Oppo Reno5 Pro + 5G is already official in China and is the last gift of the year from this popular smartphone manufacturer. The device is an improved version of the Oppo Reno 5 Pro that was presented in early December along with the standard Reno 5. Notably, the device forgoes the Dimensity 1000+ chip in favor of a Snapdragon 865, and on top of that it boasts Sony’s top-end IMX766 image sensor, making it a beast in both performance and photographic terms.

Oppo Reno5 Pro + 5G What’s new?

The Oppo Reno5 Pro + 5G retains the 6.55-inch AMOLED screen with FHD + resolution and 90Hz refresh rate that we saw in the Reno5 Pro. The design of the rear panel also remains intact, in fact, the changes are on the inside.

We start with the SOC, which is now a powerful Snapdragon 865 paired with 8GB of RAM along with 128GB of internal storage. We can also opt for an even more powerful version that consists of 12GB of RAM and 256GB of ROM. Additionally, the chip has liquid cooling and is powered by a 4,500mAh battery. The latter supports 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 load. The operating system is still Android 11 along with the ColorOS 11 interface. Connectivity options include: 5G SA / NSA, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and NFC for electronic contactless payments.

Sony IMX766 on board

One of the main virtues of the Oppo Reno5 Pro + 5G is its quad camera, where the main lens is a 50MP IMX766 sensor, which was jointly developed with Sony. This sensor can absorb 63.8% more light compared to the IMX586; This results in brighter and clearer photos and videos.

To reinforce the photographic set, it has a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 13-megapixel telephoto and a 2-megapixel macro camera. Its telephoto lens offers a 5x hybrid zoom, and to put the icing on the cake, it supports DOL-HDR, which improves the quality of dynamic range when taking pictures or filming videos.

Availability and price of the Oppo Reno5 Pro + 5G

The Oppo Reno5 Pro + 5G will be on sale on December 29 in China in two memory configurations and two-color presentations. The 8GB + 128GB version will cost 3,999 yuan, which would be $502, while the variant with 12GB + 256GB will be priced at 4,499 yuan, about $565 at the change.
